About Parker, Colorado

Parker is the second-largest city in Douglas County, Colorado with a population of 57,706, in 2019. Several native peoples lived in the area including the Plains Woodland, Utes, Arapaho, and Cheyenne. Early settlers began to transit the region when the Pine Grove Way Station was established by Alfred Butters, selling provisions and providing an overnight waypoint for weary travelers. The Station was purchased by George Long and moved to its present location on Main Street along the junction of stage routes. The newly-relocated station was later called Twenty Mile House, for its distance from Denver. The settlement and city were named after two brothers, James & George Parker. It wasn’t until 1981 that Parker was formally incorporated.

Local attractions in Parker include Parker Fieldhouse, H2O'Brien Pool, Downtown Brewing, and the Sulphur Gulch Trail.
